Navigating the massive world of Elden Ring often requires unlocking specific landmarks to progress the main story arc. The Grand Lift of Dectus serves as a primary gateway to the Altus Plateau, but operating this massive lift requires finding two hidden halves of a split medallion. This guide provides a streamlined approach to help you locate both pieces efficiently and secure a safe passage forward.

Finding the Left Half in Limgrave

The first piece of the puzzle is hidden within the relatively accessible region of Mistwood in East Limgrave. Players need to travel to Fort Haight, an outpost overrun by demi-humans and a rogue knight commander. Clearing the courtyard allows you to climb the main battlements safely.

Once at the top of the fort, look for the tallest stone tower attached to the walls. Inside this structure, you will find a ladder leading directly up to a small wooden platform containing a treasure chest. Opening this container rewards you with the Dectus Medallion Left, which features a detailed carving of the Erdtree.

Tracking the Right Half in Caelid

Acquiring the second piece requires journeying into the dangerous, crimson-soaked landscapes of Caelid further east. The destination is Fort Faroth, which is situated deep within the high-level sub-region known as Dragonbarrow. Surviving the massive dragons outside the entrance requires high mobility or swift horseback riding.

Upon entering the dark corridors of the fort, players must move quickly past aggressive bat-like creatures that inflict heavy poison damage. Head straight toward the ladder at the back of the main room to reach the roof area. A chest sitting right at the top of this ladder contains the right half of the medallion.

Activating the Grand Lift of Dectus

With both conjoined halves resting in your inventory, you are ready to travel to the northernmost edge of Liurnia of the Lakes. The Grand Lift of Dectus stands as a massive monument blocking the highway into the northern kingdoms. Approach the glowing platform at the foot of the giant statues.

Standing on the designated interaction circle prompts a special option to hoist the medallion high into the air. Triggering this cinematic sequence activates the ancient machinery, lifting your character smoothly into the clouds. This route bypasses the hazardous cliffside ruins entirely, granting you easy access to the golden fields of the Altus Plateau.
